HEBRON: ‘ ISRAELI FORCES DISPERSE 300 STONE THROWING PALESTINIAN DEMONSTRATORS ‘

#AceWorldNews – HEBRON – Nov.22 – The Israeli forces have dispersed some 300 stone-throwing Palestinian demonstrators in the West Bank city of Hebron, the military said Friday.

No injuries were reported and no arrests were made, according to the army.

Smaller clashes took place at Qalandiya and Kadom in West Bank, AP reported. The clashes came as Palestinians say that Israel wants to change the status quo at a contested Jerusalem holy site.

During prayers on Friday, no serious incidents were reported at the Temple Mount, which for the second week in a row was open to all Muslim worshippers, regardless of age.

JERUSALEM: ‘ TERRORIST ATTACK ON WORSHIPPERS AT SYNAGOGUE WITH KNIFES AND AXES ‘

#AceNewsServices – JERUSALEM – Nov.18 – Four people have been killed and at least 6 wounded when two assailants attacked worshippers with knives and axes in synagogue in North Jerusalem in the morning.

Israeli police say both attackers were shot dead on the spot by officers. Spokeswoman Luba Samri described the incident as a“terrorist attack,” according to AP.

Israeli media reports range from three to six dead in the incident.

Israel’s ambulance service spokesman Magen David Adom told Army Radio that medics were so far treating three people, one critically injured, while more wounded remained on the scene.

The attacked synagogue is situated on Agasi Street, in the ultra-Orthodox Had Nof neighbourhood of Jerusalem.

“We were praying in synagogue in the morning, we heard gunshots from downstairs… one shot, two shots and then a flurry of shots,” a witness who was inside the building told AP.

The attackers were reportedly Palestinian menfrom east Jerusalem.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel is going to ‘respond harshly’ to this latest terror attack.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned an attack on a Jerusalem synagogue.

“The presidency condemns the attack on Jewish worshipers in their place of prayer and condemns the killing of civilians, no matter who is doing it,” Reuters cited Abbas’s office as saying in a statement.

Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have been running particularly high over the last two weeks after the EU’s newly-appointed foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, called for the establishment of a Palestinian state in the next few years.

This caused a number of symbolic votes in favour of recognition of the Palestinian state in parliaments of several European states, such as Sweden, France and UK.

Spanish MPs are expected to vote in support of a Palestinian state on November 18.

Last weekend Israeli Haaretz revealed a secret EU document that Israel could soon face sanctionsfrom Brussels if Tel Aviv makes any further attempts to pose obstacles to a two-state solution with occupied Palestine.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s reply to that was that Israel will never stop its settlement constructions in occupied East Jerusalem.

On Monday the conflict escalated even further as a Palestinian bus driver was found hanged inside his vehicle at a depot in Jerusalem, with the Israeli police saying the man committed suicide, while the driver’s family claim he was lynched by Israelis.

` Chaos Comes to ` Nigeria University ‘ on Sunday as ` Worshippers ‘ try to flee from Armed Attackers ‘

#AceWorldNews – KANO – Nigeria – April 06 – (LL) – Attackers armed with bombs and guns opened fire at church services at a Nigerian university on Sunday, killing around 20 people as worshippers tried to flee, witnesses and officials said.

Explosions and gunfire rocked Bayero University in the northern city of Kano, with witnesses reporting that two church services were targeted as they were being held on campus.

One of the services was being held outdoors, while the second was inside a building, but with an overflow audience outside, witnesses said.

Officials were unable to confirm casualty figures, but an AFP correspondent counted six bullet-riddled bodies near one of the two sites.

At least another dozen bodies could be seen on a roadside by the university, but the exact number was unclear.

Musical instruments and half-eaten meals could be seen at the site of one of the services.

An army spokesman confirmed the attack but could not provide a casualty toll. Lieutenant Iweha Ikedichi told AFP that it appeared the attackers used bombs and gunfire in the assault.

Witnesses said the attackers arrived in a car and two motorcycles, opening fire and throwing home-made bombs, causing a stampede. They said worshippers were gunned down as they sought to flee.

“They first attacked the open-air service outside the faculty of medicine,” one witness said. “They threw in explosives and fired shots, causing a stampede among worshippers. They now pursued them, shooting them with guns. … They also attacked another service at the sporting complex.”

A witness who said he was at the sporting complex at the time of the attack reported hearing gunshots outside while they were praying.

“Then there was pandemonium,” he said, adding that he later saw two men outside shooting indiscriminately.

A crowd of people later gathered at a Kano hospital waiting to hear news about friends or family.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, although the attack was similar to others carried out by the Islamist group Boko Haram.
