Ace Breaking News – This week on Four Corners, could America once against be facing Trump turmoil at an election?

Here’s a taster below – Watch Four Corners: Endgame tonight from 8.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview. By Mark Willacy
I haven’t heard Australia called a “communistic” country before.
But here I was standing in the drizzle at a Trump rally in rural Tennessee being schooled about how America was “the greatest country God has ever blessed this planet with”, while also being informed my homeland was a bin fire of Third World socialism.
I’d been to a Trump rally before, just before the 45th president had won the election that turned him into Number 47.
This gathering, in Clarksville, Tennessee, was different.
Gone was the groundswell of support for Trump — the Hispanics, the Black Americans, the uni students, the farmers, and the small business owners.
Only the hardest of hardcore MAGA faithful had turned up, a sign perhaps of the waning popularity of the populist president.
Donald Trump had promised Americans an age of prosperity and peace in his second term.
But everywhere I went in the US — Colorado, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina, and even New York — people complained about one thing. The cost of living.
With his approval rating at a record low, Trump is facing a meltdown at this week’s midterm elections with the loss of the House likely and the Senate possible.
In response, the president has been railing against the electoral system itself, warning of Democrat cheating and rigging.
He’s not ruled out sending in armed federal agents to monitor the polls, a contravention of American law.
His language and threats have many people worried, including former directors of the CIA and FBI, a former Trump National Security Advisor, his one-time White House special counsel, and even some rusted on Republican operatives.
Their message was almost universal — don’t rule out Trump doing something unprecedented to meddle in the midterms, and to even reject the result.
