(SUDAN) JUST IN: Security forces fire tear gas at protesters amid deadly crackdown #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Jan.03: As with previous demonstrations, which have become regular since the coup, the authorities have erected roadblocks, with shipping containers blocking Nile River bridges between the capital and outlying areas.

#AceDailyNews says according to France24 News Report: The protesters were demonstrating against an October 25 coup launched by military leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, shouting “power to the people” and demanding a return of the “military to the barracks”

The Doctors’ Committee said one of the protesters was shot in the chest while the second suffered a “severe head wound”.

02/01/2022 – 14:30

Internet and cell phones have not worked since the morning and security forces were perched on armoured vehicles with heavy machine guns watching passers-by.

But thousands of Sudanese nonetheless came out to demonstrate “in memory of the martyrs”, with at least 54 protesters killed in street violence since the coup, according to medical sources.

Web monitoring group NetBlocks said mobile internet services were cut from mid-morning ahead of the planned protests, the first of the year.

Activists use the internet for organising demonstrations and broadcasting live footage of the rallies.

Sudan, with a long history of military coups, has undergone a fragile journey toward civilian rule since the 2019 ouster of autocrat Omar al-Bashir following mass popular protests.

But the country has been plunged into turmoil since Burhan — Sudan’s de facto leader following the ouster of Bashir — launched his coup and detained Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.

Hamdok was reinstated on November 21, but mass protests have continued as demonstrators distrust veteran general Burhan and his promises of seeking to guide the country toward full democracy.

Two months of street demos

Activists have kept up a more than two-month-long campaign of street demonstrations against the army’s takeover, despite the crackdown.

The rallies have been repeatedly broken up by security forces firing rounds of tear gas, as well as charges by police wielding batons.

On Thursday, six people were shot dead in Khartoum when security forces cracked down on mass rallies that saw tens of thousands take to the streets chanting “no to military rule”.

Burhan insists the military’s move “was not a coup” but a push to “rectify the course of the transition”. On Friday a close advisor warned that “the demonstrations are only a waste of energy and time” which will not produce “any political solution”.

Activists say 2022 will be “the year of the continuation of the resistance” in posts on social media.

They demand justice for those killed since the coup as well as the more than 250 who died during the mass protests that began in 2019 and paved the way for the toppling of Bashir.

Activists have condemned sexual attacks during December 19 protests, in which the UN said at least 13 women and girls were victims of rape or gang-rape.

The European Union and the United States issued a joint statement condemning the use of sexual violence “as a weapon to drive women away from demonstrations and silence their voices”.

Over 14 million people, one in three Sudanese, will need humanitarian aid next year, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the highest level for a decade.

(MYANMAR) LATEST: Soldiers accused of rounding up 11 people in a village in a central area of the strife-torn country before shooting them and setting fire to their bodies, according to residents in the area and media reports #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Dec.08: A volunteer aid worker in the area, who asked not to be identified, said by telephone troops had entered Don Taw village early on Tuesday (Dec 7) and the victims were killed at around 11am that day.

#AceDailyNews says according to AsiaOne News Report: The charred remains were found in a village in Sagaing, an area which has seen fierce fighting between security forces and militia set up by opponents of military rule since a Feb 1 coup, said residents, who said some of the victims were still alive when burned…….Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity of the footage or claims over how the 11 died and a spokesman for the military junta did not answer calls seeking comment.

Reuters file Soldiers stand next to military vehicles as people gather to protest against the military coup in Yangon, Myanmar on Feb 15, 2021.

“The troops were just brutally killing anyone they could find,” said the volunteer, adding it was unclear if the victims were militia members or ordinary civilians.

Myanmar has been in chaos since the military overthrew Aung San Suu Kyi’s democratically elected government in February with widespread protests and the formation of militia, known as People’s Defence Forces (PDF), to take on the well-equipped army.

Kyaw Wunna, a member of a PDF in the region, said by telephone troops had arrived firing weapons and those detained were taken to a field near the village before being killed.

Another volunteer aid worker said about 3,000 people had fled from five villages in the area and had gone into hiding, fearful of more arrests and killings.5 die and dozens injured by security forces in Myanmar

A relative of one of the victims said the dead man, Htet Ko, was a 22-year-old university student and not a member of any militia and not armed.

“This is inhumane. I feel deep pain in my heart,” said the relative, who said the man had tried to flee, but had been wounded by gun fire.

Dr Sasa, a spokesperson for Myanmar’s shadow civilian government set up following the coup, alleged the victims had been “lashed together, tortured, and ultimately burned alive”.

In a post on social media, he listed what he said were the names of the 11, all male and including a boy of 14.

“These horrific attacks show that the military have no regard for the sanctity of human life,” he said.

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), a monitoring group cited by the United Nations, says more than 10,700 civilians have been detained and 1,300 killed by security forces since the military seized power.

The military says AAPP is biased and uses exaggerated data and that hundreds of soldiers have also been killed.

(WASHINGTON) DoD Military Report: US officials are concerned by satellite images appearing to show a fresh build-up of Russian troops on the country’s border with Ukraine – but the Kremlin has dismissed the ‘low-quality’ claims #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Nov.03: Ukraine has also denied reports of a Russian military building up near its eastern border that raised fears of a new escalation in fighting with pro-Moscow separatists.

#AceDailyNews says according to MailOnline Report: Putin Sparks New Ukraine Invasion Fears as Satellite Images Show Fresh Build-up of Russian Troops on Its Border but Ukraine denied the rumours ….

Satellite images appeared to show a build-up of tanks, armoured units and self-propelled artillery as well as ground troops, near the Russian town of Yelnya, which is close to the border of Ukraine and Belarus….

Videos posted on social media in recent days also showed Russian military trains and truck convoys moving tanks and missiles in the country’s southwest near the Ukrainian border.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Monday that Washington was monitoring the situation and US officials told the Washington Post they were concerned.

But Ukraine’s defence ministry said in a statement late Monday that ‘no additional deployment’ of Russian forces had been observed near the border.

The ministry said the published videos could be an ‘element of special informational and psychological actions’ and showed a planned movement of troops after a Russian military exercise.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday also dismissed the reports of a potential build-up, saying there was no need to ‘waste time’ on ‘low-quality’ claims.

‘The movement of our military equipment and army units… is exclusively our business,’ he told reporters. ‘Russia has never threatened anyone.’

It comes after a US official, speaking on the basis of anonymity, told the Washington Post that there had been some movement, though not as large as the surge in Moscow’s forces earlier this year.

(PYONYANG, N.K.) JUST IN: Fires two ballistic missiles into the waters of the ‘Sea of Japan’ and confirms that they hit their target in the test #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Sept.15: North Korea reportedly fired two ballistic missiles into waters off its east coast Wednesday, in the direction of Japan, prompting Japan’s prime minister to denounce the action as “absolutely outrageous,” according to reports.

#AceDailyNews says North Korea reportedly fires 2 ballistic missiles; Japan’s Suga rips test as ‘absolutely outrageous’ and after the launch, the U.S. military reaffirmed commitment to America’s allies in the region: NORTH KOREA SAYS ‘STRATEGIC’ LONGE-RANGE CRUISE MISSILES HIT TARGETS IN TEST: North Korea has fired two ballistic missiles across its east coast, South Korea’s military says, its first ballistic missile test in six months.

People watch a TV broadcasting file footage of a news report on North Korea firing what appeared to be a pair of ballistic missiles off its east coast, in Seoul
South Korean television broadcast file footage in report about the North’s latest test with ballistic missiles

The tests, a breach of UN resolutions, came as South Korea and China held meetings in an effort to get the North to resume denuclearisation talks.

The launches show the North has continued to develop its weapons despite a severe economic crisis.

Hours later, the South tested its first submarine-launched ballistic missile.

The test of the missile known as SLBM was pre-planned and not in reaction to the North’s latest launches. It makes South Korea the seventh country in the world with such technology.

President Moon Jae-in, who attended the test, said South Korea now had “sufficient deterrence to respond to North Korea’s provocations at any time”, urging the South to continue increasing its weapons programmes to “overwhelm North Korea’s asymmetric power”.

The tests by both Koreas highlighted an arms race on the peninsula, as negotiations with North Korea remain stalled. The US wants the country to give up its nuclear and missile programmes in exchange for sanctions relief, but the North has refused.

The short-range missiles the North fired on Wednesday flew around 800 km (500 miles) at a maximum altitude of 60km, and were launched from central inland areas of the country, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.

They flew east towards the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, the JCS added, saying South Korea and the US were conducting analysis to determine which type of missile was used.

The US Indo-Pacific Command said the missiles did not pose an immediate threat to US personnel, territory, or allies, but that they highlighted the “destabilising impact of [North Korea’s] illicit weapons programme”.Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga called the launch “outrageous”, saying it threatened peace and security in the region.Experts say Pyongyang carries out such tests to improve its technology while trying to increase its leverage in negotiations with Washington.”It’s extraordinary timing that you have not one but two Koreas testing ballistic missiles on the same day,” Prof John Delury at Yonsei University told AFP news agency. “It does speak to the fact that there’s an arms race in this region.”Earlier, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his South Korean counterpart, Chung Eui-yong, in Seoul, and said all parties should work to promote peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.”Not only North Korea but other countries are carrying out military activity,” he said. “All of us should make efforts in a way that helps resume dialogue.”

FOX News The latest missile firings by North Korea came several days after it reportedly tested newly developed long-range missiles over the weekend, reports said.

“The firings threaten the peace and safety of Japan and the region and are absolutely outrageous,” Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said, according to The Associated Press. “The government of Japan is determined to further step up our vigilance and surveillance to be prepared for any contingencies.”

South Korea’s Yonhap News reported the latest firing, citing information from South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, which were conducting an analysis of the situation, Yonhap reported.

Hours after the North Korean launch, South Korea fired a missile of its own from a submarine in an event that had been scheduled in advance, Yonhap reported.

The U.S. military’s Indo-Pacific Command also confirmed Wednesday’s test in a statement, pledging commitment to America’s allies in the region:

“We are aware of the missile launch and are consulting closely with our allies and partners. While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel or territory, or to our allies, the missile launch highlights the destabilizing impact of the DPRK’s illicit weapons program. The U.S. commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan remains ironclad.”

The Associated Press initially reported that only one projectile had been fired and did not identify it as a ballistic missile, but updated its story around 1:20 a.m. ET Wednesday, claiming as Yonhap did that two ballistic missiles had been fired.

Japan’s coast guard said both projectiles landed in international waters between Japan and the Korean Peninsula, the AP reported.

According to the AP, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that the North Korean projectile flew toward the waters of the Korean Peninsula’s east coast on Wednesday. It gave no further details.

Wednesday’s development followed reports Monday of North Korean missile tests that occurred over last weekend – tests that ended a yearlong pause in the nation’s testing of projectiles, the AP reported.

People watch a TV screen showing a news program reporting about North Korea's long-range cruise missiles tests with images in Seoul, South Korea, on Monday. (Associated Press)

North Korea said Monday it tested a newly developed cruise missile twice over the weekend. North Korea’s state media described the missile as a “strategic weapon of great significance,” implying they were developed with the intent to arm them with nuclear warheads.

Many experts say the North Korean test suggested North Korea is pushing to bolster its weapons arsenal amid a deadlock in nuclear diplomacy between Pyongyang and Washington.

The latest launch came as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was in Seoul for meetings with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and other senior officials to discuss the stalled nuclear diplomacy with the North.

Moon said South Korea’s government plans to hold an unscheduled national security council meeting later Wednesday, the AP reported.

Talks between the United States and North Korea have stalled since 2019, when the Americans rejected the North’s demand for major sanctions relief in exchange for dismantling an aging nuclear facility. Kim’s government has so far rejected the Biden administration’s overtures for dialogue, demanding that Washington abandon its “hostile” policies first.

The North’s resumption of testing activity is likely an attempt at pressuring the Biden administration over the diplomatic freeze after Kim failed to leverage his arsenal for economic benefits during the presidency of Donald Trump.

(WASHINGTON) Beijing Space Program Report: Lawmakers are warning that Chinas space station is a military threat to the U.S #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – June.30: China will use its space station to advance its military technology and strengthen its influence in foreign countries, experts and lawmakers warn the Washington Free Beacon.

WASHINGTON: Chinese Space Station a Military Threat to US, Experts Say that the space mission comes as the Chinese Communist Party celebrates its 100-year anniversary:

Last week, three Chinese astronauts successfully boarded an unfinished space station, the Tianhe, where they will stay for three months — the longest stay in low-Earth orbit by any Chinese national: The Tianhe is the due to be completed in 2022 and will be the only alternative to the two-decade-old, US-led International Space Station (ISS), which may be retired in 2024 and the project ushers in an expansion of China’s capabilities in space and a boost to its international prestige.

By chankaiyee2 June. 29, 2021

Tiangong Space Station

The station is home to numerous “dual use” technologies that have military applications that could threaten the United States. As China’s station eclipses the International Space Station in technological capabilities, developing countries may also be more enticed to collaborate with China’s space program.

China has exploited numerous high-tech ventures—included in its space program—to increase surveillance, data sharing, and corporate espionage. Sarah Mineiro, a board member at the Vandenberg Coalition and adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security, told the Washington Free Beacon such technologies are cause for concern, and China’s growing space capabilities challenge American power in the ultimate high ground.

“The Chinese do not have a firewall between national security, defense, intelligence in space and civil space,” Mineiro said. “It’s a widely recognized fact that space is increasingly vulnerable. The advantages we derive from space—specifically the national security advantages we derive from space—have long been threatened.”

In 2018, the chief of the Chinese lunar exploration program compared the moon and Mars to contested islands in the South China Sea, which the Chinese military has long laid claim to.

Experts warned the space station is a step in the larger Chinese plan to establish a foothold in Earth’s orbit, and eventually on the moon. Rep. Mike Waltz (R., Fla.), a cofounder of the House Space Force Caucus, warned that impending budget constraints under the Biden administration and the growing strength of the Chinese space program could put America out of the game in coming years.

“The Chinese space program is on the rise, it’s young, new, vibrant and ascendant. Our program is stagnant and in some cases declining,” Waltz said. “I hope this administration will engage on the front end with these countries to help them understand what a devil’s bargain it will be to cooperate with the Chinese on their space station.”

The Biden administration did not return a request for comment.

Chinese officials have signaled they will use the space station to develop relationships with other nations. The strategy is similar to one that Beijing deployed during the coronavirus pandemic, as it provided its inferior vaccine to African, Latin American, and other Asian countries. China’s so-called Vaccine Diplomacy has pushed the United States to share doses of vaccines abroad.

“We should expect that as the Chinese build out their space station that we’re going to see them use it as a diplomatic tool,” said Dean Cheng, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation.

China invited United Nations member states in 2018 to use the space station for research. U.S. officials are also concerned that China is working closely with the Russian space program. In March, Russia and China agreed to begin working toward the construction of a joint moon base.

Brandon Weichert, a space security analyst and author of the 2020 book Winning Space, said China and Russia could surpass the United States in space during the coming decades, a threat that he said calls for strong leadership in the U.S. space industry.

“It could allow them to dominate the Earth-moon system along with the Chinese,” Weichert said of Russia. “We’re in a new space race, it’s going to be a national effort, and we need to plan and resource these longer-term missions.”

The Trump administration established the Space Force in 2019 to better protect American satellites from Russian and Chinese weaponry in space. Biden officials have acknowledged the possibility of Chinese aggression in orbit.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has deemed China a “pacing threat,” and NASA administrator Bill Nelson Said Wednesday he hopes to make the Wolf Amendment—a measure in place forbidding space cooperation with China—permanent due to Chinese space threats.

The administration’s focus, however, might not be sufficient. Beijing is mimicking many of the successful tactics of the U.S. space industry, including supporting its own cadre of private companies to advance the nation’s mission in space. With China’s technological developments advancing at breakneck speed, it is unclear that the United States can long retain its edge on the final frontier.

“In a lot of the areas of space it is not at all clear that they are far behind or even that much behind,” Cheng said. “We should be very careful about assuming they’re behind us.”

(NIGERIA) JUST IN: Boko Haram Report: Residents of Dikwa town in Dikwa local government area of Borno State on Monday said not less than 40 #IslamicState of West Province, ISWAP fighters were killed in 13 hours of battle with military #AceNewsDesk report

Boko Haram: ‘Troops kill over 40 terrorists in Dikwa: Sources among residents say the gunfight started on Sunday evening 18th April 2021 and ended on Monday morning 19th April 2012’ government are all happy whenever unbelievers are being killed: Minister Pantami,” by Idris Ibrahim, People’s Gazette, April 14, 2021 (thanks to Imam Tawhidi):

Maina Maina: 19, 2021:

Now we know why the Buhari government has promised to destroy the Boko Haram jihad group many times over the last few years, but has actually done little or nothing to oppose the group or impede its jihad against Christians in any meaningful way.

Isa Aliyu Pantami, President Muhammadu Buhari’s communications minister, once declared that he was always a happy man towards the massacre of those he considered infidels.

“We are all happy whenever unbelievers are being killed,” Mr Pantami said. “But the Sharia does not allow us to kill them without a reason.”

“Our zeal (hamasa) should not take precedence over our obedience to the sacred law,” he added.

Mr Pantami’s comments were contained in three audio recordings of his teachings in the 2000s, when he took extreme positions in support of the brutal exploits of Al Qaeda and Taliban elements who were on a campaign to obliterate the West and conquer other parts of the world.

He made the remarks while responding to audience questions about his views on Osama Bin Laden during a lecture about the Taliban. Mr Pantami said of Mr Bin Laden, the late Al Qaeda leader responsible for bringing down the World Trade Centre in an attack that claimed over 3,000 lives in 2001: “I still consider him as a better Muslim than myself.”

Mr Pantami’s comments were translated by Professor Andrea Brigaglia, an African expert at Naples University in Italy. Nigerian scholar Musa Ibrahim of University of Florida in the United States contributed to the paper that explored the onset of Boko Haram in Nigeria.

Top journal publisher academia.edupublished the research in March 2019, several months before Mr Buhari tapped Mr Pantami as a minister. Mr Pantami’s violent preachings, which he rendered in Hausa and Arabic throughout the late 1990s and early to mid-2000s, had gone largely unreported in the Nigerian mainstream media.

Mr Pantami did not return a request seeking comments from Peoples Gazette about whether or not he has eschewed his violent Salafist views….

The source informed that ISWAP fighters had occupied the town after residents and the military were withdrawn, giving the insurgents false assurance that they had captured the ancient town of Dikwa: “ As the residents fled, soldiers also withdrew from the town in the night creating confidence in the militants who thought they were taking control, but we learnt that soon after the soldiers withdrew, fighter jets came and released fire on the terrorists living them scampering for safety in all directions.

” In the afternoon on Monday, while residents are gradually returning some to carry some necessary and personal belongings, we saw corpses being evacuated and some gun trucks belonging to the insurgents burnt and we learnt that over 40 ISWAP fighter were killed in the night battle.” The source insisted.

Dikwa is about 90 km from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital and has suffered several attacks since the appointment of the new service chiefs early this year.

In the last attack, both the Army Super Camp and United Nations hub were destroyed.

Also corroborating the attack in Dikwa, the Army in a statement on Monday said troops of Operation Lafiya Dole currently carrying out Operation Tura Takaibango stationed at Dikwa and Gulumba Gana supported by the Air Component inflicted heavy casualty on Boko Haram Terrorists who attempted to take control of the strategic town of Dikwa, the headquarters of Dikwa LGA of Borno State.

The statement from Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, Director Army Public Relations said the terrorists in their numbers mounted on 12 gun trucks, attacked the town on the eve of Sunday 18 April 2021, just as the locals prepared to break their Ramadan fast for the day.

“The troops having contained the initial wave of the attack had to occupy their alternative Headquarters at Gulumba Gana to enable the Air Component to engage any gun trucks and other technicals in the vicinity of the attack to prevent fratricide.

“The troops launched a counter-attack in the early hours of Monday 19 April 2021 and successfully reoccupied their main headquarters in Dikwa.

“The retreating terrorists suffered heavy losses in both equipment and personnel including some of their key leaders from the superior firepower of own troops both from the air and ground forces.

“The troops are currently patrolling Dikwa town and environs to assess the level of damage inflicted on the terrorists.” The statement said.

(BEIJING, China.) Warns US against interfering into Chinese military activity around incursions into Taiwan airspace after the U.S. State Department has announced it would deepen relations with the self-ruled island #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Apr.18: In response to the U.S. moves with Taiwan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told reporters his country had lodged “stern representations” with the United States.

Daily Chinese incursions cause U.S. to expand ties with Taiwan: ‘Among Chinese military moves has been the almost daily air force incursions into Taiwan’s air defense zone’

Zhao Lijian noted that China urged the United States “not to play with fire on the Taiwan issue, immediately stop any form of U.S.-Taiwan official contacts..and not send wrong signals to Taiwan independence forces, so as not to subversively influence and damage Sino-U.S. relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait”.

Secretary Antony J. Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Director Yang And State Councilor Wang At the Top of Their Meeting

‘Discussed deep concerns with actions by China, including in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan, cyber attacks on the United States, and economic coercion toward our allies. Each of these actions threaten the rules-based order that maintains global stability. That’s why they’re not merely internal matters and why we feel an obligation to raise these issues here today’

SECRETARY BLINKEN: Well, good afternoon, and welcome. On behalf of National Security Advisor Sullivan and myself, I want to welcome Director Yang and State Councilor Wang to Alaska, and to thank you very much for making the journey to be with us.

Following the increase in hostile Chinese actions, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday that the United States was concerned about China’s actions with Taiwan.

In a written response to Reuters on Blinken’s remarks, China’s Foreign Ministry said the government intended to protect the country’s sovereignty.

“Don’t stand on the opposite side of 1.4 billion Chinese people,” it warned the United States.

On Tuesday, Taiwan’s Defence Ministry reported another four Chinese J-16 fighters and an anti-submarine warfare aircraft entered its defense zone.

One day earlier, Taiwan said 25 Chinese military aircraft, including fighters and nuclear-capable bombers, entered its air zone, marking the largest incursion to date.

While Washington recognizes Beijing, rather than Taipei, the United States remains Taiwan’s most important international supporter and arms seller.

Further, by law the United States is required to provide the island with the means to defend itself.

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen has said Taiwan is an independent country and that it will defend its freedom and security.

(BEIJING) China & Iran Agreement Report: After signing an ‘Economic & Security Co-operation Agreement’ its being reported that 5,000 troops will be deployed to Tehran to build a military base in the country #AceNewsDesk

China to deploy 5,000 troops in Iran, build military base there: After on March 27, 2021, China and Iran signed an economic and security cooperation agreement according to which Beijing will invest $400 billion in Iran over the next 25 years. This is a far-reaching agreement that is certain to increase the Chinese strategic influence in the Middle East for decades to come.

This will prop up the mullahs, who are so unpopular among the Iranian people that the Islamic regime might otherwise have fallen’

“Urdu-Language Daily: ‘More Than 5,000 Chinese Troops Will Be Deployed In Iran, And A [Military] Base Will Be Built,’” MEMRI, April 2, 2021:

The article in the Urdu daily Roznama Ummat.

Pakistani analysts are also watching how China’s new focus on Iran will influence Chinese investment in Pakistan. In a report, the Urdu daily Roznama Ummat tried to assess the impact of the Chinese agreement with Iran.

The report is titled: “The Deployment Of 5,000 Chinese Troops In Iran [is] Part Of The Agreement.” The Roznama Ummat report sees the deployment of 5,000 Chinese troops in Iran in positive terms for regional stability. Following is the text of the report.

“More Than 5,000 Chinese Troops Will Be Deployed In Iran, And A [Military] Base Will Be Built For Them”

“In the agreement with Iran regarding the investment project, China has also included a clause for deployment of its troops there; and more than 5,000 Chinese troops will be deployed in Iran, and a [military] base will be built for them. Before this, China has also put its signature on investment projects with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, which shows that China is implementing a plan to increase its influence in the Middle East.

“Contrary to the general impression, analysts are also seeing positive impact of the Chinese investment in Iran on the CPEC [China-Pakistan Economic Corridor] project underway in Pakistan… China is going to get cheap oil from Iran which will go to China via Pakistan. Similarly, China’s [investment projects] with Pakistan are, instead of financial benefits, of strategic nature.

“Pakistani experts and analysts who observe these matters deeply completely reject the general concern in Pakistan that China is now moving in the direction of Iran [thereby abandoning Pakistan]. They say that the recent pact between China and Iran for economic cooperation will not be an alternative to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and will be rather nourishing it.

“According to experts, China has tried to wriggle itself out of the consequences of the American sanctions by cooperating with Iran in long-term economic and infrastructure construction and security matters. Iran has agreed to sell its oil to China at a price cheaper than international rates to get an assured source of income and so that the sale of its oil can continue without any obstacles. The documents of this [China-Iran] agreement have not yet emerged, but as per the known details, during the next 25 years Chinese projects worth $400 billion can significantly help in creating economic stability in Iran’s damaged economy. In exchange for it, China will get oil, gas, and petrochemical products at cheaper prices from Iran.”

Former Pakistani Ambassador Iqbal Ahmed Khan: “America Has Sidelined Both Pakistan And Iran Which Forced Us To Look Toward Others; China’s Cooperation With Iran Will Benefit Pakistan Directly”

“According to the agreement signed between the two countries, 5,000 soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army of China will also be deployed in Iran which is being opposed in Iran – at the forefront of which is the former President [Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad. An analyst… has written that that this agreement, giving China an opportunity to deploy 5,000 security and military officials on the Iran territory, is a regional game-changer.

“Meanwhile, as per Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, the chairman of the Pakistan-China Institute, the Iran-China agreement is positive for the interests of Pakistan and the region because this will nourish a regional economic cooperation whose center is Pakistan, that is CPEC [China-Pakistan Economic Corridor]. Mushahid Hussain expressed the hope that it will help in providing stability to the role of [Chinese-built] Gwadar port in promoting regional cooperation between China, Afghanistan, Iran, and the countries of the Middle East and in stabilizing Baluchistan [the insurgency-affected Pakistani province along Iran’s border].

“Former Pakistani ambassador Iqbal Ahmed Khan, who is the professor of international affairs at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), says that China’s investment project with Iran is part of its $8 trillion Border and Road Initiative (BRI) projects, the CPEC being one of them. It is not correct to compare China’s investment in Iran with the CPEC in Pakistan because both of them are Chinese investments and the two will be aiding each other, and its benefits will reach all the three countries [China, Pakistan, and Iran].

“The former ambassador [Iqbal Ahmed Khan] said that China’s investment in Iran is not at the cost of Pakistan. He said that America has sidelined both Pakistan and Iran, which forced us to look toward others; China’s cooperation with Iran will benefit Pakistan directly. Iran’s oil, which currently travels 13,000 miles to reach China, will now travel 1,500 miles through the safe passage in Pakistan to reach China…”

(OHIO) Justice Dept Report: A South Korean national pleaded guilty today to participating in a scheme to defraud the U.S. Department of Defense #AceNewsDesk report

South Korean National Pleads Guilty to Scheme to Defraud U.S. Department of Defense: ‘According to court documents filed in the U.S. District Court in Columbus, Ohio, Hyun Dong Jo of the Republic of Korea was the designated manager under a Defense Logistics Agency contract to provide hazardous waste removal, testing, disposal, and related services to U.S. military installations in South Korea’

‘In that position, Jo participated in a scheme to falsify laboratory reports submitted under this hazardous waste contract’

From at least as early as February 2015 until at least June 2018, Jo submitted hundreds of falsified or materially altered laboratory reports, misrepresenting to U.S. military officials that laboratory testing and analysis had been performed on samples taken from U.S. military installations located in South Korea, when, in many cases, no such testing was performed. As part of the scheme, Jo emailed the forged laboratory reports and invoices seeking payment for those reports to the Department of Defense, causing the Defense Financial Accounting Service to wire more than $280,000 in payments.

“This charge reflects the Antitrust Division’s commitment to protecting taxpayer dollars spent overseas,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Richard Powers of the Department of Justice Antitrust Division. “Individuals who cheat the U.S. military in the performance of contracts will be held accountable. We hope this guilty plea will serve as a deterrent for other contractors who contemplate obtaining illicit gains through engaging in fraud while providing services for the U.S. military domestically or abroad.”

“The defendant forged lab results and falsely reported them to the Department of Defense,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Vipal J. Patel for the Southern District of Ohio. “Not only is this unsafe for the U.S. Forces installations in Korea where hazardous waste was not actually tested, but it also defrauded the Department of Defense out of $280,000. This office takes Jo’s conduct seriously and will continue to hold accountable anyone who attempts to defraud the government in this way.”

“Taking advantage of the DoD contracting system for one’s own enrichment is a clear violation of the law,” said Director Frank Robey of the U.S. Criminal Investigation Command’s Major Procurement Fraud Unit. “Our agents and our law enforcement partners will steadfastly pursue this type of scheme and all fraud that erodes the rule of law and the trust between the DoD and the contracting community.”

“This case should serve as a cautionary tale for those who seek enrichment by way of deceit,” said Special Agent-in-Charge Stanley A. Newell of the Transnational Operations Field Office for the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS). “Anyone who attempts to defraud the Department of Defense with bogus and doctored invoices will be held to account. The special agents of the DCIS along with our investigative partners from the U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigative Command, are dedicated to protecting the integrity of U.S. military procurements around the globe; and ensuring that American taxpayers get what they pay for.”

Jo pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. The fine may be increased to twice the gain derived from the crime or twice the loss suffered by the victims of the crime, if that amount is greater than the statutory maximum fine. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The Defense Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, and Defense Logistics Agency’s Office of Inspector General are investigating the case.

The Justice Department’s Antitrust Division Washington Criminal II Section is prosecuting the case. Special thanks are extended to Deputy Criminal Chief Brenda Shoemaker of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

Anyone with information in connection with this investigation or other schemes affecting the U.S. military’s procurement process should call the Antitrust Division’s Washington Criminal II Section at 202-598-4000 or the Antitrust Division’s Citizen Complaint Center at 1-888-647-3258 or http://www.justice.gov/atr/contact/newcase.html.

#AceWorldNews – JERUSALEM: Jan.06: A fierce debate is raging within Israel’s military over the extent to which soldiers should be held legally accountable for their actions during last year’s Gaza war, with commanders increasingly at odds with military lawyers AP reported.

The dispute has set off a firestorm in Israel, where many say the legal threat would shackle soldiers in any future battle, lower their morale and shatter a sacred trust on which Israel’s compulsory military service relies.

#AceNewsServices – Featured Post: SYRIA:Jan.02: US military veteran said joining a Kurdish group fighting Islamic State militants in Syria was as “easy” as buying an airline ticket, highlighting the simplicity with which westerners have joined both Islamic State and its foes.

‘US vet says fighting in Syria was as easy as buying air-plane ticket to Miami -Screenshot from 2015-01-02 19:33:42 ‘

The veteran, “John,” told Fox News in an exclusive interview that he found a Kurdish group known as YPG on Facebook, sending them his military credentials during the vetting process.

“What I believe is that they are European go-betweens, they are not in Kurdistan, they operate receiving information of interested Westerners, and then they either relay it or make a decision themselves of whether or not this person is suitable to work with the YPG,” he said.

“They sent (angel) message saying I was approved and someone would be waiting on me.”

Once approved, the rest was fairly simple.

“I just went on-line and bought a ticket. It was that easy. It was like booking a flight to Miami Beach,” he said.

John said upon arrival, he was taken almost immediately to the front lines of fighting in Syria, where Islamic State (also known as ISIS or ISIL) battles both President Bashar Assad’s forces and myriad other groups jockeying for position in the war-torn nation.

“It’s extremely dangerous in that they’re taking anyone with no military experience, no age requirements, no physical restrictions,” he said.

“They are just taking people there, giving them a gun saying, ‘Hey, good luck, buddy’,” John said of the lack of training recruits receive.

He said they day he joined YPG, he was accompanied by another westerner, from Scotland. He added that he also met a Canadian, other Americans, and Britons.

Never paid by the Kurds he worked with, John has since come home, turning himself over to the American consulate in Iraq.

Yet his case underscores concerns in Washington and capitals across the Western world that the ongoing Syrian civil war and fighting in Iraq, where Islamic State has gained considerable sway in western territories and areas along the Syrian border, have become increasingly attractive for westerners, especially those with jihadist motivations.

Before stepping down in August – just as President Barack Obama had ordered US-led air-strikes on Islamic State positions in Iraq – longtime FBI Director Robert Muellerwarned of Americans traveling to Syria and coming back with intentions “to undertake an attack upon the homeland.”

“[When] you have individuals travelling to those venues, you are concerned [first] about the associations they will make, and secondly about the expertise they will develop and whether or not they will utilize those associations, utilize that expertise, to undertake an attack upon the homeland,” Mueller told ABC News.

Three days after Mueller’s remarks, it was reported that Douglas McAuthur McCain, a 33-year-old American, was killed in Syria while battling alongside Islamic State. It was later reported that fellow native Minnesotan Abdirahmaan Muhumed, an employee of a Delta Airlines subsidiary in the Twin Cities, perished in the same battle. At least one American — a Florida man named Moner Mohammad Abusalha — has previously died in Syria after carrying out a suicide bombing mission for Nusra Front, an Al-Qaeda-related affiliate, in May.

“We think that there are approximately 12,000 fighters from at least 50 countries in Syria — foreign fighters, including a small number of Americans — that may have traveled to Syria since the beginning of the conflict,” said deputy State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf upon reports of McCain’s death. “They may all not still be there,” she added.

US intelligence officials, speaking with anonymity, quickly announced after the McCain reports in late August that as many as 300 Americans were fighting along with Islamic State or related militants in Syria and Iraq.

“We know that there are several hundred American passport holders running around with ISIS in Syria or Iraq,” a senior US official said. “It’s hard to tell whether or not they’re in Syria or moved to Iraq.”

Yet in September, Jeh Johnson, secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, said Islamic State did not pose a direct threat to the US.

“At present, we have no credible information that [Isis] is planning to attack the homeland of the United States,” Johnson said, echoing earlier sentiments expressedby Matthew Olsen, the head of the US National Counterterrorism Center.

Later that month, The Guardian reported, citing a “senior administration official,” that only 20 to 30 Americans had travelled to Syria to join Islamic State, affiliated jihadist groups, or groups opposed to Assad.

Meanwhile, in November, it was reported that several fighters from the US, Canada, the UK, Germany and other western nations had travelled to fight with Kurds against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

#AceWorldNews – WASHINGTON:Jan.02: Washington has denied accusations by Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh that it was involved in Tuesday’s attack on the presidential palace.

' USA Deny Accusations of Involvement in Military Coup in Gambia '

‘ USA Deny Accusations of Involvement in Military Coup in Gambia ‘

Jammeh blamed foreign dissidents based in US, Germany and UK for what he called an attempted coup. “The US government had no role in the events that took place in Banjul,” a US State Department official said.

Earlier the US embassy in Banjul described the violence as a coup against Jammeh, but the African nation’s leader said it was a foreign-sponsored terrorist attack.

Banjul (Gambia) (AFP) – Dozens of military personnel and civilians were arrested and a large cache of weapons and explosives found after an alleged coup attempt in The Gambia, an intelligence source said Thursday.

The suspects have been interrogated and were being held in “four villas” in or near the tiny west African nation’s capital Banjul, said a source close to Gambia’s National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

A group of heavily armed men led by an army deserter attacked the presidential palace before dawn, but were repelled by forces loyal to Gambia’s leader of 20-years, Yahya Jammeh.

#AceWorldNews – UKRAINE:Dec.18 – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has introduced a bill to revoke Ukraine’s non-bloc status, the president’s website says.

At present, the law on exterior and interior policies states the country cannot be a member of any military-political blocs such as NATO.

Such a status cannot guarantee the entity of the country any more, the president said in Warsaw on Wednesday, promising to submit the bill to the Ukrainian parliament.

#AceNewsServcies – DAMASCUS:Dec.17-Gordon Duff was part of a Veterans Today Senior Staff Delegation that travelled to Damascus and was in consultation with the Veterans Today Board and other like minded individuals within the Military and Intelligence community.

By Preston James

Last week Gordon Duff, Senior Editor of Veterans Today delivered an Historic Keynote Speech at the International Conference on Combating Terrorism and Religious Extremism held in Damascus, Syria. This speech is sending shock-waves around the World.

This Delegation included Veterans Today Senior Editor *Gordon Duff, Veterans Today Managing Editor **Jim Dean, Veterans Today Director ***Colonel James Hanke, and Veterans Today Financial Editor ****Mike Harris.

Gordon Duff’s speech quickly changed the focus of the whole conference and is now sending shock-waves around the World in the various Diplomatic, Military and Intelligence corps around the World.

Why is his speech Historic?

For a number of vitally important reasons. This speech is the first time in history an American Intelligence Team of “non-activists” gave a military briefing to an audience of this type, including key Military Leaders of diverse Tribal Forces throughout Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, along with a Russian delegation and many others from around the world. Before this historic speech by Duff, no one has ever dared to speak the simple truth about the true problem, that it is not Terrorism in the Mideast, but it is the effects of large scale international Organized Crime.

But even more important, Duff, a noted international Intel and Security Consultant, identified the root cause of United States of America’s dysfunctional involvement in Iraq and Syria and the true cause of ISIS/Daish.

Duff’s speech immediately changed the whole tone of the Conference and turned it to a very practical focus on the true causes of ISIS/Daish.

His speech immediately shifted the focus of the Conference from theoretical discussions of Terrorism and Extremism, to what is actually going on at the ground level at a practical level, who is responsible and why they are doing it, that is stealing factories and torturing and killing civilians, folks that are their people.

Gordon Duff laid out the true cause of ISIS/Daish in simple terms for the very first time anyone has ever done so publicly and this disclosure from such a highly credentialed and credible Intel Professional is now sending shock-waves around the World.

Duff declared that there are far too many that have died to continue speaking in unclear terms and that it was time to share a key hypothesis based on signals intelligence. Then Duff proceeded to explain the True Causes of ISIS/Daish in simple understandable terms which provide the clarity needed to form a sustainable solution.

Duff explained that what is going on in Iraq and Syria with ISIS is not Terrorism, it is simply CRIME. That is, it is the works of an international Crime Cabal which has gotten control of the American Congress. Yes, this is a large Organized Crime problem that must be understood at its simple root cause.

Duff identified this Crime Cabal as Israeli and pointed out that this is Worldwide Crime on a scale never experienced before.

Duff explained how the illegal Supreme Court Decision of Citizens United made it possible for an Israeli-American Organized crime magnate now operating out of Macao, Sheldon Adelson to essentially buy control of both Houses of Congress in the last election and being able to bring Congress under control of this International Crime Syndicate which specializes in human trafficking and narcotics.

Duff also identified American Generals McInerney and Vallely as being involved in organizing Daisch along with Senator John McCain.

He also pointed out that Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel [who has just resigned] was the one that prevented the American bombing of Syria in response to the False-Flag gas attack at Aleppo, Syria.

This keynote address delivered by Gordon Duff was historic because for the very first time ever a Top Intel and Security Consultant publicly explained how the problem with ISIS/Daish is not terrorism but is Crime. He clarified that ISIS/Daish is a result of Criminal Behavior of an Israeli based International Crime Syndicate which essentially bought control over the US Congress during the last election.

Here is Gordon Duff’s keynote speech which was historical and is now sending shock-waves around the World.

It should now be clear to everyone that the creation of ISIS/Daish occurred not because of Terrorism, but because of the undue influence exercised on the American Political system by this Israeli based Crime Syndicate in which a faction inside the American Congress, Military and Intel has been manipulated into supporting the creation of ISIS/Daish.

It is easy to imagine why Duff’s frank disclosure in his keynote address that the real problem on the ground in Iraq and Syria is Crime and the handy-work of an international Israeli Crime Cabal immediately changed the tone of the conference, and is now sending shock-waves around the World.

This is the first time ever that these issues have been clarified for the Syrian Security Services and Military as well as to Intel, Military and Diplomatic representatives from all over the World.

In days and weeks to follow it is expected that such an Historic disclosure based on hard Intel will change the scope and tone of the discussion about what is really going on in Iraq and Syria on the ground and how a worldwide criminal enterprise is behind it.

There were several sophisticated attempts to sidetrack and derail the VT Delegation and keep Gordon Duff from delivering his Historic Speech. Despite all these attempted interceptions, one of which was directly thwarted by VT Financial Editor Mike Harris, Gordon Duff was able to deliver his keynote address and make history by putting the actual facts behind ISIS/Daish on the public record for the very first time. Colonel Jim Hanke spoke at the Conference also and his talk was very well received.

Jim Dean took numerous films which should prove to be quite important when some are published on VT.

Mike Harris gave numerous interviews to the Syrian Press and met with Syrian Security Officials and the Grand Mufti, the World’s top Islamic legal and theological schiolar. These discussions were very productive and did a great deal to further an understanding of what is actually behind the ISIS/Daish crime problem in Iraq and Syria which is nothing more than sophisticated international Organized Crime and must be dealt with as such.

Obviously Gordon Duff and his team displayed great courage in attending this Conference in Damascus and deserve the highest commendations possible for this fine work representing the true interests of peace for folks with no voice.

When the dust settles time will show this speech will be a major turning point in the Criminal Cabal’s blatant abuse of the American People from their buying and hijacking of the US Congress and some American Generals with deep Intel connections and their abuse of millions around the World in many different nations, especially the Mideast.

No criminal Cabal or conspiracy this large can exist without utmost secrecy, which no longer exists thanks to Duff’s keynote address and complete disclosure. Their crimes are now no longer secret and the “Jig is now up”.

Thanks to Duff the Jig is about up for this International Israeli linked Crime Cabal, some have identified as the International Zionist Crime Cabal (IZCS) which has formed an alliance with the Bush Crime Cabal (BCC) which is now being completely identified all over the Worldwide Internet. It is now realized by many that the BCC was formed when Bush1 ran the Assassination of JFK and rose to power, able to deeply embed his operatives in the CIA, the Military, Congress, the Department of Justice and the Judiciary.

Now if anyone doubts that ISIS/Daish was set up under the Money Power of the International Zionist Crime Cabal (IZCS) operating out of Israel which has now gained Control of the US Congress, consider this. All ISIS/Daish wounded are taken to Israel for medical treatment, all expenses paid and those that can be are returned to Iraq or Syria to attack, torture, murder and asset strip innocent civilians, pretending to be Islamic Terrorists.

This is all done in order to create mass confusion and to empower those governments that exist off the spoils of pushing solutions to their synthetic terrorism which is really nothing more than a massive Organized crime operation to make money and accrue more power.

How do we know that the Criminal cabal has truly gained control over the US Congress. We now have actual specific evidence which has uncovered the Crime Cabal’s control over Congress through the use of large bribes and threats of assassination.

#AceSeaNews – Featured Post:PAKISTAN: Dec 16 – In an earlier post we reported on source reports from local media of military school and a 100 plus dead my report from the frontline says it is still going on and confirmed is now 126 Dead latest Reuters report says.

The Army Public School is located on Warsak Road near Army Housing Colony and a medical school, in turbulent city of Peshawar.

The Pakistani militants have justified their act of cowardice and evil and in a statement to Reuters say they targeted the school because the army targets their families. Its common for Armies to tackle and fight offensives against militants and state enemies. But militants say they attacked the school because in this way, “We want them to feel our pain,” the Taliban said.

Till evening updates, the KP province Minister of Information said that approximately 80-100 unconfirmed dead. #AceNewsServices – Featured Post –

Sexual assault is an horrific act and is inflicted on nearly 240,000 American’s each year.

That means that every 2 minutes someone, somewhere, in the United States is either raped or has suffered inappropriate sexual contact.

Would it surprise you to know that many of these attacks are not on women but on men? Would it surprise you further to know that many of the men assaulted are done so right in our own military?

According to RAINN (Rape Abuse Incest National Network) 2.78 million U.S. men have been victimized in a sexual way or raped. In 2003 alone 1 in 10 victims of rape were men.

Male sexual assault is much more prevalent than many of us would have imagined. But, it is something that many men are reluctant or even refuse to discuses, especially our military troops because many are afraid to be seen as weak, gay or victims. This stigma very often prevents them from reaching out for help or even reporting the incident.

“Though survey results released by the Pentagon last week suggest the number of sexual assaults in the military has decreased, a new mater-of-fact way of asking questions has revealed far higher rates of penetrative sexual assault – such as rape and sodomy – than in previous years,” stated Stars and Stripes.

The new questioning technique revealed a rise in males willing to admit to sexual assault.  The statistic grew from 11 percent to 35 percent experiencing unwanted sexual contact.

In its latest report on sexual assault, the Pentagon estimated that 26,000 service members experienced unwanted sexual contact in 2012, up from 19,000 in 2010. Of those cases, the Pentagon says, 53 percent involved attacks on men, mostly by other men.

In the 2014 Army report, for example, there were 2,113 troops who filed ‘unrestricted reports of sexual assaults.’ Of those 27 percent were male assaults.

The Marine Corps have also been trying to increase understanding of male sexual assault and encouraging men to come forward and break the barriers holding them back, according to Col. Scott Jensen, head of the Marine Corps’ Sexual Assault Prevention and Response branch.

“Of the 844 official reports of sexual assault in the Marine Corps in 2014, 21 percent of victims were male, 74 percent were female and 5 percent did not self-identify in the report,” according to Stars and Stripes.

Getting the troops to come forward and talk about male sexual assault isn’t easy. But in order to raise awareness, Greg Nelson, did just that.

Nelson joined the Marines in 2007. On his 21st birthday and he decided to go out partying with his friends and got really drunk.

A man at the party offered to allow Nelson to ‘crash’ at his place and, at the urging of his friends, accepted the man’s invitation.

All Nelson remembers is getting sick “and being offered water that seemed to have white specks in it,” reports The Associated Press. “He said the man then offered him another glass of water and a pill that was supposedly Motrin.”

Things went a bit hazy after that. According to Nelson, he just blacked out and when he awoke felt as if he were ‘in a vegetative state’. Whatever Nelson had taken had apparently rendered him unable to move. Horrifyingly, a helpless Nelson was sexually assaulted by the very man who was supposedly helping him. Nelson blacked out for a second time.

Corporal Nelson left the Marine Corps in 2011.

It has been over the last year that the Military have increased their efforts to reach male victims of sexual assault and encouraging them to receive treatment. It would then be possible for the perpetrators to be gone after and brought to justice.

The question has been asked if society is ready to ‘talk’ about male sexual assault in the military. After all, they are big, strong soldiers so how can they be victims? Will it change how society views them? How could this happen to them?

“While people may question how a burly infantry officer or Marine could be assaulted, often he is drunk, passed out or asleep.” Just as women can be rendered unconscious or immobilized, so can men.

Is society ready to ‘talk’ about it?

I pose the question, How could we not?

As with sexual assault on women, the abuse on men is rarely about sex but about power and control. It has very little, if anything, to do with homosexual behavior.

“In May, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered the military services to increase their efforts to encourage men to report assaults,” according to The Associated Press. “The services already had started putting together training materials aimed at male victims. Videos included scenarios of troops drinking and discussions about when to intervene and what to do if a perpetrator is of higher rank.”

#AceBreakingNews – AFGHANISTAN – Nov.29 – At least five members of the Afghan National Army have been killed as a Taliban raid on a military base in the southern province of Helmand entered its third day, officials said Saturday.

Meanwhile, a car bomb went off at a west Kabul building that the Taliban charge is a Christian proselytizing center.

Twelve people, including children, were reportedly trapped inside.

In an interview with local media, Gen. Mohammad Zahir, Kabul’s police chief, said the commander of his critical response unit was injured in fighting around the site.

#AceWorldNews – AFGHANISTAN – Nov.24 – Britain withdrew its last military forces from southern Afghanistan on Monday, after 13 years of fighting, AFP said.

A ceremony at Kandahar airfield marked the departure of remaining Royal Air Force personnel as the final British base was handed over to Afghan forces in October. Since 2001, Britain has suffered 453 military deaths during operations in some of the most violent parts of Afghanistan.

Much of the British fighting took place in neighbouring Helmand province.

It still remains a Taliban insurgent stronghold and a centre of opium poppy cultivation.

#AceWorldNews – WASHINGTON – Nov.22 – President Barack Obama has secretly signed an order that expands the United States’ direct combat role in Afghanistan throughout 2015, the New York Times reported.

Signed over the last few weeks, the secret order permits American forces to continue to battle the Taliban and other militants that pose a threat to either the Afghan government or US personnel. According to the Times, US jets, bombers, and drones will be able to aid ground troops – be they Afghan or US forces – in whatever mission they undertake.

Under the order, ground troops could join Afghan troops on missions, and airstrikes could be carried out in their support.

If true it would appear that the number of troops that will be operating in Afghanistan next year will remain unchanged from previous plans.

There will be 9,800 soldiers left throughout next year, and that number will be cut in half by the end of the year.

By the end of 2016, the remaining troops are scheduled to leave Afghanistan, ending the US military presence in the country.
