Protesters have called for the resignation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, one of the presidential candidates.

Romanians living abroad had to stand in long lines to cast their ballots, and some were not able to vote at all due to the lack of special forms to be filled in by voters.

`Thailand’s `National Anti-Corruption Commission’ files charges against `Yingluck Shinawatra’ over `Rice-Buying’ Scheme”

#AceWorldNews says that Thailand’s anti-corruption body said on Tuesday it had filed charges against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Reuters reported.

These relate to irregularities in the government’s rice-buying scheme. “Although she knew that many people had warned about corruption in the scheme, she still continued with it,” said Vicha Mahakhun, a member of the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

The premier was summoned to face the charges on February 27.

The government introduced the scheme in 2011, paying farmers way above the market price for their grain.

#AceWorldNews says according to latest reports thousands of protesters seeking to oust Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra surrounded the government’s headquarters in Bangkok on Monday, Reuters reported.

The move is seen as a defiant riposte to police efforts to begin retaking sites the protesters have been occupying for weeks.

More than 10,000 demonstrators surrounded the heavily-barricaded Government House, the prime minister’s main offices. The demonstrators also threatened to seal entrances to the complex to prevent Yingluck and other ministers from working there.

#AceWorldNews says according to RT News the Japanese…

#AceWorldNews says according to RT News, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has called for “frank talks” with South Korea and China to push for a solution to recent territorial rows. The three nations are at odds over a group of uninhabited islands in the resource-rich East China Sea which Japan currently administers. Relations between the Asian countries have soured recently after Abe’s visit to a shrine in Tokyo that commemorates 14 senior war criminals. South Korea and China regard the shrine as a reminder of Japanese abuses during World War II.
