ASIA: ‘ Corporate Supermarkets Take Lion-Share Leaving Small Traders Picking-Up the Crumbs ‘

#AceNewsServices – ASIA – September 17 – Food accounts for nearly a quarter of overall consumer spending in Asia – more than housing, education or transportation.

Cuisines-of-Asia

Hundreds of millions of people in Asia earn their livelihoods from food – whether from farming it, preparing it or selling it.

But in the past decade or so, transnational corporations have been taking over a bigger and bigger slice of the pie, with major implications for the entire food chain.

Corporate supermarkets are expanding faster in Asia than anywhere else on the planet. And as supermarkets and their procurement chains expand, they take revenue out of the hands of peasants, small scale food producers and traders.

aeon

The expansion of supermarkets is transferring control over Asia’s food to a handful of corporations like CP, Aeon, Dairy Farm, Wal-Mart, and other global retailers, and their corporate suppliers.

Across the region, there is both growing awareness of the threat posed by global retailers and a growing resistance against their expansion.

But we must continue envisioning and building strategies and alternatives to the supermarket model of food distribution in order to move forward in a way that strengthens social, community based and public food systems and assures the survival of small food producers and local markets.

16 year old Scottish kids talk politics live on BBC TV, showing the huge gulf between kids from the USA

Question Time, on every week night with our politicians on all the time

I did a blog about how these poor America kids aged 18 to 21 years old couldn’t hold a debate on politics, how when asked why they were voting for Hillary Clinton had no clue. One said “It would be good to have a woman president after an African American” This is not the fault of American kids, as George Carlin said, the Government threw kids and education overboard 20 years ago.

Video below and here was the blog where I asked if there was a problem in the USA, I think there is, a huge one at that! http://shaunynews.com/2014/05/18/america-this-is-a-huge-problem-young-hillary-clinton-supporters-struggle-to-name-her-accomplishments/

Young American kids, such a shame to watch this!

Exactly why are USA Kids wanting to vote for her? They don’t know!

Now to prove my point about how kids in the USA (This will interest Teachers all over) are being made dumb. When I watched that video above I cringed. I feel sorry for America’s future, and these poor kids who have not a CLUE where Sweden is on a World map. Again, this is a Government issue.

Nicola Sturgeon with kids in a classroom, good to know our kids will do well

Now have a look at younger, Scottish kids, this was filmed in my City, Edinburgh. All the kids were much younger than the kids above from the USA video, they are all 16 and 17, note how these kids can hold debate and know what they are talking about. This is what happens when Education works. When we look to our nations future, me being Scottish, I can be sure the next generation coming through WILL 100% be able to handle and work and run an independent Scotland. This is standard for Scottish Kids and kids from Wales and Scotland also. I think American people need to watch both video’s so they have a rough idea of the difference in education systems. America are 38th Smartest (Or stupidest) The UK average is 3rd or 4th, But Scottish kids excel in many areas, just listen to these 16 and 17 year old kids debate with hardened politicians!!

Communism, Fascism, Marxism and the USA

To truly understand Communism and what it REALLY is, can be tricky, we must know and understand European and early history from the Americas (North and Latin/South) history and have a slight grasp on Religion also, this is a blog I expect a few likes and not one reply, I am testing my mind and the ability to write about things that challenge popular beliefs by people all over the World. I have a family member very high up in the UK Communist Party, we must understand the Communism we all see and know (Think we know) is extremist Communism. Communism at its truest form is equality. The main reason why communism was made was peopl0e wanted to be equal without getting restricted by their environment, but nowadays communism is abused by some dictators such as North Korean leaders. Besides, capitalism also has its own problem. There are so many people who didn’t have opportunities to try what they really wanted to do due to their poverty or else. If communism was working as it should be, would it be better than capitalism? Capitalism is an economic system in which trade, industry, and the means of production are controlled by private owners with the goal of making profits in a market economy. Central characteristics of capitalism include capital accumulation, competitive markets and wage labor. In a capitalist economy, the parties to a transaction typically determine the prices at which assets, goods, and services are exchanged. Sadly this can lead to Fascism!

Fascism is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism that came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe. Influenced by national syndicalism, fascism originated in Italy during World War I, combining more typically right-wing positions with elements of left-wing politics, in opposition to liberalism, Marxism, and traditional conservatism. Although fascism is usually placed on the far right on the traditional left–right spectrum, several self-described fascists as well as some commentators have said that the description is inadequate. Fascist ideology consistently invokes the primacy of the state. Leaders such as Benito Mussolini in Italy and Adolf Hitler in Germany embodied the state and claimed indisputable power. Fascism borrowed theories and terminology from socialism but replaced socialism’s focus on class conflict with a focus on conflict between nations and races.Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky (Autarky is the quality of being self-sufficient. Usually the term is applied to political states or their economic systems. Autarky exists whenever an entity can survive or continue its activities without external assistance or international trade) to secure national self-sufficiency and independence through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.

Fascists sought to unify their nation through an authoritarian state that promoted the mass mobilization of the national community and were characterized by having leadership that initiated a revolutionary political movement aiming to reorganize the nation along principles according to fascist ideology. Fascist movements shared certain common features, including the veneration of the state, a devotion to a strong leader, and an emphasis on ultranationalism and militarism. Fascism views political violence, war, and imperialism as a means to achieve national rejuvenation, and it asserts that stronger nations have the right to expand their territory by displacing weaker nations.

Communism is a socioeconomic system structured upon common ownership of the means of production and characterised by the absence of classes, money, and the state; as well as a social, political and economic ideology and movement that aims to establish this social order. The movement to develop communism, in its Marxist–Leninist interpretations, significantly influenced the history of the 20th century, which saw intense rivalry between the Communist states in the Eastern bloc and the most developed capitalist states of the Western world. Communism was first developed into a scientific theory by German philosopher and social scientist Karl Marx (Marxism) Marxism is a worldview and method of societal analysis that focuses on class relations and societal conflict, that uses a materialist interpretation of historical development, and a dialectical view of social transformation. Marxist methodology uses economic and sociopolitical inquiry and applies that to the analysis and critique of the development of capitalism and the role of class struggle in systemic economic change.
Religious views on capitalism have been philosophically diverse, with numerous religious philosophers defending the natural right to property, while simultaneously expressing criticism at the negative social effects of materialism and greed. I know this is difficult to follow, but stay with me! The first socialists drew many of their principles from Christian values, against the bourgeois values (Bourgeoisie, French pronunciation is a word from the French language, used in the fields of political economy, political philosophy, sociology, and history, which originally denoted the wealthy stratum of the middle class that originated during the latter part of the Middle Ages (AD 500–1500). The utilization and specific application of the word is from the realm of the social sciences. In sociology and in political science, the noun bourgeoisie and the adjective bourgeois are terms that describe a historical range of socio-economic classes. As such, in the Western world, since the late 18th century, the bourgeoisie describes a social class “characterized by their ownership of capital, and their related culture”; hence, the personal terms bourgeois (masculine) and bourgeoise (feminine) culturally identify the man or woman who is a member of the wealthiest social class of a given society, and their materialistic worldview) of profiteering, greed, selfishness and hoarding. Liberation theology is a school of theology within Christianity, particularly in the Roman Catholic Church. It emphasizes the Christian mission to bring justice to the poor and oppressed, particularly through political activism. Its theologians consider sin the root source of poverty, the sin in question being exploitative capitalism and class war by the rich against the poor. In the U.S., in response to increased ideas of capitalist ideas and Social Darwinism, the Social Gospel was pursued, calling on protections of people against perceived threats from industrialization.

america-freedom-to-fascism-a-film-by-aaron-russoSo, after reading all this we can draw many conclusions about today’s World, where we are, and how we came to be here. History was taught to me since age 5 and I was no master of History at school I am self taught as many are. As I write and get my mind more and more into the World and how it works and lies to us through the means above, we can then speculate with an educated guess as to where we are heading as a species.

I look at America as being almost Communistic and 100% Fascist. What America has become today is the embodiment of all the above. It can be said for every action there is a reaction and this is true more so in so called 1st World countries such as the USA. America is a country of people full of pride and this is good, but when I often say America is very small 3.5% of our global population, many Americans question me on this and I get such comments as “That can’t be true” It is as many know who know how to use an internet search engine. America has become a scared war nation. The Government are ruled by commerce and the people are rules by powerful men and woman, CEO’s that dictate how political and religious values are perceived by a willing people who have been duped and have been educated to the same level as many 2nd and 3rd World countries. America sits at 38th cleverest nation on Earth and sometimes when I do blogs about the USA I am doing so as a worried friend. I am slowly starting to understand you America, your government failed you BADLY in School over the last 20 years and the next generation coming through I really feel sorry for. American kids were not passing exams, so American politicians made the tests easier to make a graph or chart look good and fool you all. The USA media is well trained in the art of fear and fascism, JFK warned you America, this man seen fascism entering your world and your banks and government buildings, yet as a people, America, you must wake up and stop using the “I can’t help” line

Many men have tried hard to warn you America, some in speeches, some in song. You didn’t listen and now you are on the verge of a life where you will be a number. I come from a society and way of life where we own our Government (Scotland, not Britain, we have our own laws here) I struggled to understand you America so I researched, what I came to see was a people who can’t admit they are wrong, want to blame another politician and won’t say “I was wrong to vote for this person” With Obama you have, America, taken your way of life backwards and allowed a small % of 200 people to have more money than every man, woman and child in your country. What JFK said above was true. I will leave you with more warning America through video and images. Again, I don’t expect much come back debate here.

Thanks, Shaun

#Brazil : ” Rio protests over`Public Transportation Price’ Erupt in Violence “

#AceWorldNews says Demonstrations in Rio de Janeiro’s primary train station turned ugly Thursday when Brazilians protesting against a ten cent fare hike violently clashed with police.
Activists threw stones and petrol bombs at police dressed in full riot gear as the chaos spilled from inside the station onto the surrounding street.

A cameraman for Band TV was hospitalized in serious condition after he was struck by either a stun grenade fired by police or an explosive thrown by demonstrators. Thousands of commuters were trapped inside when police shut down the transit system, and many became ill because of the tear gas.

Thais Jorao, 22, told The Washington Post that the outrage was about more than the fare increase. “If it was a public transportation fare hike when we had good health services and education, you would not have this many people on the street,” he said.

“On top of this you see spending with the world Cup, things that we really don’t need. We want health, education, decent public transportation.”

Most Deprived Students in Pakistan get Helping Hand to Attain Higher Education

#AceNewsServices says the UK Government is helping 278 of the brightest but most deprived students in Pakistan to attain quality higher education this year at the Lahore University of Management and Sciences (LUMS).

These students are from some of the poorest areas of Pakistan and would otherwise not be able to afford quality higher education. They are pursuing degrees in subjects such as business, law, engineering and economics.

The initiative aims to enable these young people to get better jobs and so lift themselves and their families out of the cycle of poverty.

The British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomson said:

Education is the single most important factor that can transform Pakistan’s future. This is a chance to help remove financial barriers and provide these bright young minds with the opportunity to pursue their dreams and build a future free of poverty.

If well educated, Pakistan’s burgeoning youth population offers a vast mine of talent and productivity, which will help bring prosperity and stability, fuelling Pakistan’s economic growth and global competitiveness.

This investment will not only benefit the lives of some of the poorest but brightest students in Pakistan, but will also benefit those around them by enabling them to lift their families out of poverty and help inject some prosperity in to their community.

Dr. Sohail Naqvi, the Vice Chancellor of LUMS, said:

This initiative will change the lives of some of the most intelligent young people from underprivileged families in Pakistan. Our existing financial aid has transformed lives across Pakistan for many years now: this partnership with the UK will allow LUMS to significantly scale up this support, helping more of the youth to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

The scholarships – worth £7.1 million (1.2 billion rupees) – will help an estimated 1,000 of the brightest students from the poorest households over the next five years. The aim is for half of these to be girls. Students are awarded yearly scholarships which are renewed at the end of the academic year if they maintain a minimum level of performance during each semester.

The five-year programme will be managed by LUMS, who will select students on merit and provide financial aid on the basis of need, verified by family income and inspection of applicants’ homes.

As part of the scholarships, students are required to work in their local communities as ambassadors for LUMS, by spreading awareness about the importance of higher education, and supporting other aspiring but impoverished higher education students.

Across Pakistan, the UK is working closely with provincial governments and partners on ambitious plans which will benefit millions of children and improve the standard of their education. This will not only make a dramatic difference to the lives of some of the most disadvantaged girls and boys, but will also benefit their families and communities as they get better jobs and earn more money.

Pakistan is now one of the UK’s largest recipients of development investment. As well as tackling the education emergency, other priorities for the UK include preventing thousands of women dying in childbirth by funding skilled midwives, nurses, or doctors; providing job skills training to tens of thousands of the poorest people; and giving women in deprived households small monthly cash grants to purchase essentials, such as food and medicine. This investment is dependent on continuing to secure value for money and results.

Death at School:Parents Protest Dangerous Discipline Video

Español: Logo Vectorial de YouTube

Español: Logo Vectorial de YouTube (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I saw this video today on YouTube and just had to provide a post, about the discipline applied in certain schools in the US and before you watch ,it is very graphic and may upset certain people!

The fact that “Special Needs Children” are being locked up for hours on end to be able to teach them a lesson, defies all morality!

Something Sickening Is Happening To Some Of Our Schoolchildren.

I have a ginormous soapbox I wanna get up on right now. Watch this and then do some of your own research. What you’ll find will probably be appalling.

At 5:06, the kids themselves describe their own experiences. That should be all you need to hear to understand something is seriously wrong here.

WARNING: This video includes disturbing scenes involving children.

“A Teacher that Teaches the Pupil must learn how a “Pupil must Teach the Teacher”

Nick Clegg Demontfort cropped

Nick Clegg Demontfort cropped (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Today Nick Clegg has set out to provide a new initiative to provide what he has called “Outstanding Leaders” a league of Champions as he put it! This seems a little like the football league and we reward these so-called “Top Talent” with more money, and only the few get this chance to be a star!

So do we want more “Top Teachers” rather than “Good Teaching” as the statistics say we end up pushing up standards. That is good, but by what percentage, as classes get larger and larger every year! So maybe we could achieve seventy percent, but what of those left behind on the ladder of success! There are always those that do not make the grade ,those with problems at home, those with-out family support, these people stay on the bottom rungs!

They get forgotten sitting at the back of the class, until many years later they will not be earning the big bucks in Medicine, Politics or as a Teacher, they will be doing the menial jobs. There is of course nothing wrong with menial jobs, l have done these myself in the past, and still do even daily!

But l was one of those children at the back of the class, trying to attract teacher’s attention, knowing the answer when the question was asked, but too scared to speak, in case l was wrong, these were my school days! The fact was l needed both support from the teachers and my family, l received neither!

It took years of trying to make my way in life, and l took a long time to feel confidant enough to speak up and be counted, l was either angry at the system or angry at myself for taking it out on others!

Now l am able to write and tell other people my “Good News” there is no need to keep on throwing out failing teachers who fail their pupils, because as l now know so well it is the “Teacher that Teaches the Pupil and to be the absolute best teacher the “Pupil must Teach the Teacher” change for change sake is no change at all!

So l say to Nick Clegg let’s get better teaching methods, as throwing enough knowledge at some one does not mean they will learn, they have to be educated, on the how to learn. This method of teaching was around when l was a boy, and it would mean rote learning, of the Alphabet by association. The fact that each year, due to government intervention, changes are made to the curriculum, so many times it would make your head spin!

Then added to that the pupils have to start learning a new way of learning, this confuses the pupil. So Mr Clegg let us provide quality teachers based on tried and tested teaching methods of learning! We do not just need “Top Talent” or “Outstanding Leaders” this just leads children to follow the path of success for the sake of money, not for the sake of being the best Doctor or Politician at providing people with the best possible services.

We need children to grow up to be better citizens first and what and who they become second, thus making for a better world.
